Marengo Township is an administrative district within McHenry County, Illinois. The township has its own locally elected government that works with other governmental agencies and residents to provide services and information. The goal of this website is to describe the township organization and mission, announce upcoming events and to share ideas and information the community.
Marengo Township is a six mile by six mile area that includes the City of Marengo in McHenry County, Illinois. Located 60 miles northwest of Chicago and 15 miles east of Rockford, Marengo Township represents an active and growing community. The township offices are located about 1/2 mile north of Marengo.

The Township Government consists of several elected officials and one full-time employee. Some of the responsibilities of the the Township are General and Emergency assistance; assessing property values; maintaining, repairing and plowing Township roads; and regulating development through comprehensive land use planning. Many of these functions are performed in cooperation with county and state governments and directly with the public.
